Mechanical Engineer (Tampa)

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Mechanical Engineer for immediate employment for the Tampa, FL office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Design of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems as well as plumbing systems.
  • Perform building heating/cooling load calculations, size and select equipment, design HVAC systems (hydronic and air side), and Life Cycle Cost Analysis of alternative HVAC systems.
  • Coordinate between disciplines and produce construction documents using AutoCAD and REVIT software.
  • Work closely with other discipline engineers, architects, designers and project managers as a key team player within an integrated multi-disciplinary project delivery team.
  • Contribute significantly to the successful design, production, coordination, and delivery of projects.

*Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ Years of experience in mechanical design of HVAC and Plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, and educational facilities.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, BIM, and REVIT.
  • Ability to develop conceptual designs, design development documents, construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Self-starter, self-motivated, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A valid drivers license is required.

*Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE License preferred.
  • LEED certification preferred.

Mechanical Engineer with experience in healthcare, higher education, K-12, industrial, and commercial design projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Professionally represent BCER Engineering and effectively support company strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct field survey to determine existing conditions for remodels.
  • Perform calculations required for the HVAC and/or Plumbing design tasks of the project.
  • Prepare the design documentation required for the project.
  • Coordinate with the internal and external team.
  • Communicates effectively with the project manager, owner, contractor, and project team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least two (2) years practical experience in mechanical engineering design.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong written, technical and interpersonal skills, commitment to client service.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with multiple priorities.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Revit.

Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience in institutional (healthcare, higher education), industrial, and commercial design projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Professionally represents BCER Engineering and effectively supports company strategic initiatives.
  • Communicates effectively with the project manager, owner, superintendent, subcontractors and field leaders to ensure project status and any changes are known to all involved parties.
  • Responsible for helping to develop team member competencies and skill sets. Maintains regular communication with team members and actively engages with superintendent in team support and problem-solving.
  • Develop and increase client relationships.
  • Lead the internal mechanical design team.
  • Be responsible for scheduling of the projects and mechanical staffing for the projects.
  • Participate in the planning, development, and preparation of construction documents.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering License in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least ten (10) years practical leadership experience in mechanical engineering design.
  • Experience with Mechanical Healthcare design.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Florida healthcare construction codes and standards (FGI, NFPA 99, NFPA 100, ASHRAE, AHCA, etc.)
  • Experience with managing medium and large-scale renovation and new construction.
  • Strong written, technical and interpersonal skills, commitment to client service.
  • Ability to lead the internal and external team through all aspects of design.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently for extended periods of time and with multiple priorities.
  • Ability to effectively perform and make decisions in a fast paced and a constantly changing schedule/timeline.
