We are looking for a licensed mechanical engineer experienced in HVAC building system design. The engineer will be the lead mechanical design engineer on projects and be responsible for overseeing design, mentoring junior engineers, and performing technical designs. The engineer will work on a wide range of projects including airport, military, and justice projects. Projects range in size from 5-10 million dollar projects up to 100 million dollar projects. Engineers with any type of building project experience will be considered; you need only to possess the desire to work on a wide range of diverse and complex HVAC design projects.

A Regional Sales Manager (“RSM”) is responsible for meeting sales goals in defined geographic areas (territories). Each of these territories is assigned to an independent sales rep firm. The RSM works with the independent sales rep firms to promote and support the ONICON and Air Monitor (AMC) brands in each region with the ultimate goal of achieving defined sales and profitability goals while ensuring customer satisfaction (as well as select Greyline products and any future acquisitions with relevant products for HVAC applications). The RSM will provide training, technical support and constructive feedback to the representatives. Since Reps are sales agents for ONICON/AMC and other firms, the RSM must be very diplomatic and supportive in order to ensure that ONICON/AMC receives as much of the Reps’ time as possible. The RSM may also manage direct sales people or provide direct sales support for one or more “open“ territories; those which are not covered by a rep firm. In addition, the RSM may become involved in high profile field service issues either in a direct or supporting role.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Manages all independent reps within the defined region and may directly manage some sales people.
  • During office time, provides direction and supervision for inside sales and customer service staff with respect to specific customer issues.
  • Works cooperatively and constructively with our independent sales reps (Reps) to meet annual sales goals and to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • RSMs are measurement experts. They maintain technical proficiency with all ONICON/AMC products, the HVAC applications where they are used, and new products/applications as they are added/identified.
  • The RSM will develop and maintain relationships at all production locations in order to manage orders and logistics to meet customers’ and reps’ needs.
  • Works with Reps to develop relationships with consulting engineering firms resulting in specifications for ONICON/AMC products (where we are the basis of design).
  • Works with Reps to develop relationships with current and prospective customers (especially controls contractors) resulting in ONICON/AMC becoming their preferred brand of flow and energy measurement products.
  • Maintains standard ONICON/AMC price and discount levels within the assigned territories and makes suggestions for special offers where necessary to secure highly competitive or strategic business.
  • Supports regional trade shows within his/her territories and factory training events as required.
  • Provides direct support for high profile projects and technical service issues as required.
  • Maintains up to date reporting of sales activities and tracks/reports on large long-term projects.
  • Provides feedback to management regarding industry trends and customers’ requirements.
  • Conducts training sessions; both internal and external.
  • Provides market intelligence in the form of trip reports.
  • Stays current on competitors’ offerings and contributes to competitive analysis by product.
  • Provides meaningful input on the overall company sales strategy, product development and marketing.
  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities as requested by Supervisor or Manager

Position Requirements:

  • Travel requirements vary by region and time of year; 30-50% overnight travel is expected (minimum 7-8 days per month in the field, selling). Territories should be visited 1-3 times per year to conduct luncheon presentations, sales calls, training, and service with our Reps.
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Inside hire: 4+ years as a successful Territory Manager or Senior Sales Engineer with a demonstrated level of technical competence, knowledge of our business, and superb communication skills.
  • If hired from outside: 7-10 years prior experience in an outside sales management role in a technical, consultative selling environment. The emphasis is on long term relationship building vs. “closing”. Experience in the HVAC building automation market is a big plus but not required.
