Florida West Coast Chapter History

Our original board consisted of the following individuals:

Karl K. Hickman-Chairman
Sam F. Graziano-First Vice Chairman
Gilbert D. Leach, Jr.-Second Vice Chairman
Walter A. Pitt, Jr.-Secretary
Fred L. Graves-Treasurer

We had standing committees consisting of an Executive committee, Technical, Membership, Entertainment, Program, Reception and Attendance, Publicity, and Nominating

In 1959 the merger of ASHAE and ASRE resulted in the Florida West Coast Chapter of ASHRAE being formed out of the local ASRE chapter and the Central Florida members of the Jacksonville Chapter of ASHAE.

By the end of 1959, the chapter meetings were attracting over 100 attendees with a series of panel discussions on the relationship of engineers, contractors, and architects and owners. These meetings served to attract more members and established a broad base of support for the Florida West Coast Chapter.
